Kanal, who is coordinating the drive on behalf of Khan, along with Shiv Sena corporator Amey Ghole, informs that they intend to make it a daily affair with the two trucks covering different parts of Mumbai. He says, "We started the initiative when we heard about the plight of the artistes and technicians of Shri Shivaji Mandir Natyagruha. I reached out to Salman bhai who immediately agreed to help us. Each ration kit contains five kilos of rice and wheat flour, vegetables, oil, salt, spices and tea powder. We reached out to 186 workers on the first day and hope to extend help to other theatre artistes through them. We are practising safety measures while distributing the kits."

Action! Maharashtra government allows Bollywood to restart

Even as the country enters the fifth phase of lockdown today in its battle against COVID-19, the entertainment industry can heave a sigh of relief. Following the two-month-plus industry shutdown, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Sunday, greenlit the resumption of film, television and OTT shoots amid stringent regulations.

Gangubai Kathiawadi may be among the first films to resume shoot
Gangubai Kathiawadi may be among the first films to resume shoot

The state government issued a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), titled Guiding Principles to Restart Entertainment Industry in Maharashtra, for conducting shoots hereon. Among the new rules, producers who wish to conduct shoots in Mumbai will have to seek permission from the managing director of Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation (Film City). Those planning a schedule across other cities or districts in Maharashtra will have to procure permission from the collector of the concerned district.

The on-set SOPs are a combination of the guidelines that had been proposed by the Producers' Guild and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). In one of the most important regulations, the state government suggested that the on-set crew should be minimised to 33 per cent of the original strength. The presence of an ambulance, a doctor and a nurse has been made compulsory on every set, as is the monitoring of temperature of every member.

The decision brought in a wave of cheer in the entertainment industry that has been reeling under the shutdown that was implemented on March 19. With this move, several films — including Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi, Salman Khan's Radhe and Ajay Devgn's Maidaan — that had been abruptly called off, can go on floors again.

JD Majethia, chairman, television & web, Indian Film & Television Producers' Council, says, "I want to thank Uddhavji on behalf of the entire entertainment industry. We had a Zoom meeting on May 22, and here we are today! He has accelerated the process [to restart the entertainment industry]. Now, it is our turn to be responsible and not to disappoint our government."

Lockdown 5.0: I am actually enjoying my time, says Urvashi Rautela

The blueprint for lockdown 5.0 was laid out on Saturday evening. Actress and former beauty queen Urvashi Rautela requests everyone to follow the guidelines of lockdown and assist Prime Minister Narendra Modi in combating the novel coronavirus. The online sensation says she herself has been spending time at home, adding that she has steadfastly avoided stepping out or meeting people.

"I have been spending time with family. I am doing household chores. I am reading books. I am actually enjoying my time. I am at home, not stepping out and not even meeting anyone. I want to request everyone to follow the guidelines given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Let's not go out and stay home because that is the only way we can fight this pandemic," Urvashi told IANS.

Meanwhile, Urvashi is gearing up for the release of her film "Virgin Bhanupriya" on an OTT platform.

Talking about her film, Urvashi told IANS: "It is a story of a college-going conservative girl (Urvashi Rautela) who decides to lose her virginity. She thinks it should be the easiest thing in today's world. However, all her attempts go in vain and as a soothsayer predicts, it is an impossible task that won't happen ever in her life. What happens after that forms the crux of the story."

"Virgin Bhanupriya" also stars Gautam Gulati, Archana Puran Singh, Delnaaz Irani, Rajiv Gupta and Brijendra Kala, Niki Aneja Walia and Rumana Molla.

Milenge baat karenge, till we meet again: Sutapa Sikdar remembers Irrfan Khan in an emotional note

Versatile Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan passed away at the age of 53 on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. The actor was undergoing treatment for Neuroendocrine cancer and was admitted at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Tuesday due to a colon infection. Irrfan is survived by his wife Sutapa and sons – Babil and Ayan.

Soon after news of Irrfan's death broke the internet, social media was flooded with messages from fans and celebrities expressing their grief. Babil and Sutapa Sikdar are also remembering the loss of the actor by sharing throwback pictures on their social media account.

Recently, Sikdar took to her Facebook account to share two pictures with the late actor. In one picture, Irrfan can be seen lying on the grass alone and in the second pic, he poses along with his wife. She wrote, "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about. It’s just a matter of time...milenge baaten karenge.... Till we meet again."

Take a look at the post here:

After her husband’s death, Sikdar had shared a statement on behalf of the family, thanking the late actor’s fans and doctors for their support. The statement read: "How can I write this as a family statement when the whole world is taking it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel alone when millions are grieving with us at the moment? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It's a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve. Yet, I want to try to fill in the things that people don't already know."

The statement further read, "It's unbelievable for us but I would put it in Irrfan's words, 'it's magical' whether he is there or not, and that's what he loved; he never loved one-dimensional reality. The only thing I have a grudge against him is - he has spoiled me for life. His strive for perfection doesn't let me settle for ordinary in anything. There was a rhythm which he always saw in everything, even in cacophony and chaos, so I have learnt to sing and dance to the music of that rhythm, even with my tone-deaf voice and two left feet."

Irrfan Khan, who made his debut with a small role in Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay in 1988 was known for his performances in Maqbool, The Namesake, A Mighty Heart, Paan Singh Tomar, Life of Pi, The Lunchbox, Haider, Gunday, Piku, Talvar, and Hindi Medium, amongst others. His last film Angrezi Medium released in March this year.
